AN IN-HOME & BACKYARD SESSION WITH 3 CRAZY BOYS
This session turned out to be everything I was envisioning and MORE! This mama wanted color, and boy did we get it!!! For almost all of my in-home sessions, I shoot at 10 in the morning. I find that I like the light best at that time of day, and I also find that mornings are better for kids' attitudes. With shooting in the morning, I look for east-facing windows in my client's homes. I care way more about the natural light coming into a room than I do the title of a room.
For this specific session, the only east-facing window in their home was in their youngest's nursery. We had one window we were working with, and we were all squeezed together with a dresser, a rocker, and a crib surrounding us. But you would never know it looking at these. The blue walls in this nursery just add to the colorful vibe this mama wanted, and I am so glad it came together so beautifully.
We also spent the back half of their session in their yard! We had gorgeous morning light coming through the trees, and the boys were pumped to get to go swing & play outside. We ended our time together with popsicles & it was the perfect way to end a beautifully chaotic session.
Sessions like these are always my favorite. Believe it or not, I actually don't want your kids to be perfectly behaved the whole time. I want your real life to feel like it is oozing out of your photographs, and that doesn't happen when kids are just sitting still like little statues. It happens in the perfectly real chaos.
