THIS CLIENT THOUGHT SHE KNEW WHAT SHE WANTED, BUT SHE TRUSTED MY VISION
My client, Kara, reached out to me back at the beginning of the year to talk about photographing her family. We hadn't ever worked together, but she had heard wonderful things about me from friends of hers who had used me before. As we emailed back and forth, and I got to hear about what she was envisioning, I loved so much of it, but I knew we could make it even better.
I had just started switching into fully in-home photography, so I took a risk and asked her if she would be open to doing part of her session inside her home. I smiled ear to ear when she emailed back because she said, "YES!"
Over the coming months, we worked together to plan her session. We worked through outfits, and we discussed the lighting in her home to decide which rooms we would shoot in. I dove deep into the Q+A form I had her fill out to really understand the daily rhythms of her life with kids. She's a stay-at-home mama, which means that so much of her days center around the kids. I knew that I wanted to highlight the relationship she has with them because she is currently in such a sweet season of motherhood that will be over before she knows it.
We talked almost weekly for 2 months, and after a few rain delays, it was finally time to have her session! I cannot even put into words how beautifully her session came together. And that is because she trusted me. She allowed me to take her vision and enhance it into something her brain couldn't even imagine! That is the best part of my job: working with you to create photographs you never thought possible of your family. But in reality, I am just documenting the story that is already unfolding in front of my lens.
